Agriculture | n. phr.
An irrigation sytem that consists in gently distributing water near the plant´s roots in order to keep unchanging high moisture levels in the soil, and which is often carried out by drip irrigation and, to a lesser extent, by microspray irrigation.

Example

Localized irrigation, including drip systems, can lower evaporation significantly and save water in young orchards, but less so in mature orchards.
